The objectives of SEO localisation

Are you looking to expand your business into the French or French-speaking market and attract qualified traffic from search engines? SEO localisation helps you achieve these goals: it adapts your content to the cultural nuances of your target region – France – and to the search behaviour of French-speaking internet users, whilst optimising your organic search rankings.
As a translator specialising in English-to-French SEO localisation, I transform your English-language content into high-performing French versions that resonate with your local audience and rank effectively on Google. Forget standard translation: I adapt your message, identify the keywords actually used by French internet users, and optimise every element to maximise your visibility.
My areas of specialisation include outdoor sports, digital photography, environment, yarn-based crafts (knitting and crochet), plant-based diets and veganism, and IT.
Why? Because I’m passionate about these fields and activities and have genuine expertise and in-depth knowledge in them, that I can leverage for my clients’ benefit.
So, are you planning to launch your website in France? Call on my SEO localisation services from English to French to avoid the potentially costly mistakes of a literal or machine translation, build loyalty among your French customers and accelerate your organic growth in the French market.

The pillars of SEO localisation
SEO localisation is essentially based on three pillars:
- Local keyword research: identifying the terms actually searched for in French (rather than a literal translation of English keywords), analysing search volume and local competition, and tailoring content to the search intent of French-speaking users.
- SEO-optimised translation: translation with natural integration of keywords, cultural adaptation of messages and examples, optimisation of semantic density, and adherence to brand tone and voice.
- Metadata optimisation: translation and optimisation of titles and meta descriptions, adaptation of image alt tags, optimisation of URLs where necessary, and adherence to character limits.

SEO Localisation FAQ
Why is it risky to use a simple machine translation followed by a professional proofread?
Machine translation does not understand local search intent or cultural nuances. It translates words literally, sentence by sentence, without any coherence and without analysing what French-speaking internet users are actually searching for on Google. SEO localisation ensures that your content is both culturally relevant and optimised for French-speaking search engines.
Do you only translate from English into French?
Yes, I have a fluent command of English at a professional, technical and specialist level, and French is my mother tongue, which enables me to guarantee the highest possible quality. This is my sole language combination for translation and my specialisation in SEO.
Which French-speaking markets do you cover?
I mainly localise for France, but French-speaking Belgium and Switzerland regions are equally suitable targets for my translations. If necessary, I can adapt some of the vocabulary to the target market in line with my client’s specifications.
How long does it take to localise my website?
It all depends on the number of pages and the volume of content on the website, the technical complexity of the content, and whether you wish to localise the entire site or just part of it. Here are some indicative timeframes to bear in mind:
- Portfolio website (5–10 pages): 5–7 days
- E-commerce (50 products): 2–3 weeks
- Large-scale project (over 100 pages/products): timeframe to be confirmed
Do you provide the keywords being searched for?
Yes, I am sending you the list of keywords identified for each localised piece of content in a separate file, along with their search volume and difficulty in the local market.
Can I order just the keyword research?
Yes, I offer a standard keyword research service as a standalone package: a flat fee of €700 for 100–150 keywords identified and analysed.
Does the monthly content marketing bundle include translation or copywriting?
This involves the translation and localisation of existing English-language articles. You provide me with your English-language articles and I will localise them for the French-speaking market, including SEO optimisation. I can also provide original web content copywriting services on request; please contact me so we can discuss your requirements.
Do you offer legal translation services?
No, I do not translate strictly legal content (terms and conditions, contracts, legal notices, privacy policies, etc.), as this requires specialist legal knowledge which I do not possess. In such cases, I recommend calling in a qualified legal translator for this type of content, and I can, if you need it, put you in touch with a colleague who specialises in this field.
Can I guarantee SEO results?
My SEO localisation work involves optimising your content in line with current best practices in search engine optimisation: identifying relevant keywords, cultural adaptation, technical optimisation of metadata, and semantic structuring. My role is therefore to create the best possible conditions for your localised content to rank highly in search results.
However, search engine rankings depend on many factors that are beyond my control:
- Google’s algorithms: they are constantly changing (several hundred updates a year)
- Your website as a whole: its speed, authority, backlinks and history
- Your sector: competition varies greatly depending on the niche
- Time: it usually takes 3 to 6 months for SEO to show significant results
- Your overall strategy: my work is just one piece of the SEO puzzle
I am committed to delivering high-quality localisation and optimisation work, but I cannot guarantee specific SEO results (rankings, traffic, conversions) or provide precise forecasts. Achieving results in organic search takes time and requires a consistent, holistic approach.
Services are invoiced for the optimisation work carried out, regardless of the SEO results achieved. No refunds will be granted on the basis of SEO performance targets not being met.
Before we begin working together, please take a moment to read my General terms of business.
