Climate, environment and EU policy
Reports, guides, policy texts and project documents on climate and the environment, translated from English into French for public bodies, international organisations and companies.
Documents I translate
I translate environmental and institutional documents from English (UK and US) into French (France):
- reports and white papers;
- guides and manuals;
- project descriptions and project deliverables;
- amendments, petitions, policy papers and other texts produced by European institutions;
- websites, newsletters and communication material on environmental subjects.
The subjects range from climate change, biodiversity and ecosystems to renewable energy, green infrastructure, nature conservation and forestry, sustainable cities, the circular economy and soft mobility.
Institutional translation
I have worked for European institutions and international organisations, directly or through agencies. Institutional and technical texts call for a standard translation: I faithfully render your content whilst preserving the meaning, terminology and structure of your source text. The documents I translate retain the original layout of your documents, so they can be used as soon as they are delivered.
I work in full respect of the rules of the French language, the type of the source document, its author, its style, its target audience and its message.
Background in the field
Before becoming a translator, I worked for fifteen years in industry, including as executive assistant for the Quality, Safety, Health and Environment department in the nuclear industry. Since then I have completed further training in energy transition (IFP School), climate change and health (INSPQ), sustainable cities and territories (ADEME and CNFPT), agroecology (Montpellier SupAgro) and the Sustainable Development Goals.
This training helps me understand the source texts and choose the French terms used by specialists in these fields.
Revision of existing translations
If your French version has already been translated, I can revise it: I compare it sentence by sentence with the English source text, check its accuracy and terminology, and correct style, grammar and typography. This is useful before publication, or when several translators have worked on the same set of documents.
Terminology
I use CAT tools (Trados Studio, OmegaT, or your own tools) with translation memories and a specific glossary for each client. They help me produce a translation that is faithful to your source document and consistent across a series of reports or project deliverables.
Frequently asked questions
Do you translate deliverables of EU-funded projects?
Yes. I translate project descriptions, reports, guides and communication material from English into French. I can also revise French versions that already exist, comparing them sentence by sentence with the English source text.
Which environmental subjects do you cover?
Climate change, biodiversity, ecosystems, agroecology, nature conservation and forestry, renewable energy, energy transition, green infrastructure, sustainable cities, circular economy and recycling, CSR, soft mobility and eco-friendly transport, and the European and national policies on all of these.
Can you work with our glossary and translation memory?
Yes. I work with CAT tools (Trados Studio, OmegaT) and with the tools of my clients. Send your glossary, translation memory or style guide with the files: I apply your terminology so that the French version stays consistent from one document to the next.
